Great question! We are going to be blunt, we find the term at times confusing, misused, and overused. Bespoke simply means that the garment was created just for you, every time. Until your order is confirmed we don’t even cut the fabric. In summary, every one of our custom garments are handcrafted for one special person, and that would be YOU.

The word comes from the verb 'bespeak,' which means to speak for something, or to order something to be made. In fashion, this refers to the process of having a single garment or an entire outfit specially made for one person. Bespoke clothes are individually crafted from a pattern made from scratch for the unique customer. Unlike ready-to-wear outfits, bespoke clothing isn't available in standardised sizes. It is completely unique. And that's what makes it special.

Bespoke in tailoring means the garments are designed from a bare canvas using the measurements taken individually from clients. The measurements are then used to cut out the pattern. This cut out pattern is then laid to cut the fabric chosen by the client.

Made-to-measure means the garments are made from a standard pattern that is then altered to suit the client.

We offer over 5,000 fabrics from our Andre Julius Exclusive mills, which are located across the world. You will work with your clothiers to determine which fabric is best for you.

Appointment, Delivery/Fitting, and Design: To be sure that we take enough measurements to make the suit perfect for you, the first fitting takes 1-2 hours. We’ll take your 30+ measurements, go over your specific fit requests, and then help you design your garment(s).

Getting the garment: Because each garment is made specifically for you, ordering custom clothing is not an overnight process. Our turnaround time for your garment(s) to be made is about 4 weeks, with some slight variation depending on the season. In select situations, it may be possible to further expedite your order for an additional fee. For events and occasions, please be sure to place your order 4 weeks in advance, as delivery timelines may fluctuate throughout the year.

Delivery/Final fitting: Once your garment is complete, we will hand deliver your garments to you. At that time we will also conduct your final fitting so that you have the opportunity to try everything on to ensure perfect results.

We get and use a variety of fabric books that are sent at the start of each season so that we stay current. Unfortunately, our exclusive fabrics are not provided in a digital format. Because of this, we do not have an online catalog to view fabric selections. If you are ever near our showroom, please feel free to book a private appointment, where you can see and feel all of our fabrics.

No, you can buy any part on its own, perhaps to coordinate with an existing item you already own. You can order trousers, waistcoats, overcoats or jackets by themselves, or as part of a suit. Contact Us or Book an appointment and let's talk through all the options available.

Andre Julius offers suits (2 piece & 3 piece), tuxedos, sport coats, handcrafted shoes, slacks, shirts (both dress, causal, and formal), overcoats, & trench coats. In addition, we offer accessories such as ties, bowties, and pocket squares.

Absolutely! While our main servicing locations are the Hampton Roads, Richmond, Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Washington DC and Northern Virginia areas we are able to travel anywhere. Fill out our travel inquiry form to schedule an appointment in your city.

Andre' Julius custom suits range in cost from $1,000 to $3,500 based on fabric choice (from English wools up to full Italian merino wool) and customization options. Most of the time, the only additional costs come from a fully custom-designed lining (+$100) or real bullhorn buttons (+$10)

An Andre Julius fitting generally takes between 1-2 hours and your garments will be delivered 4-6 weeks after your fitting. Alterations can be necessary to perfect the fit for you. If your garments need tweaking to get them fitting perfectly. If your garment needs adjustments upon your final fitting, Andre' Julius will cover the cost of alterations to ensure that the first time you use your custom garments, they fit like a glove. If you gain or lose weight at any point after the final fitting, Andre' Julius will provide reimbursement for local tailoring up to 100%.

It is the customer’s responsibility to send proof of receipt to Andre Julius Customer Experience at info@andrejulius.com within 30 days of the alterations being performed to receive your reimbursement. Once the receipt is sent to our team, it may take up to 5 days to process the issuance of reimbursement.
